An Unbelievable Two Weeks!!!

CELEBRATING WORLD ORPHAN DAY!!!

Uganda is a country that is home to more than 2.7 million orphans. God has called us to join hands with the members of Ebenezer Baptist Church which is in the heart of the Namatala Slum on the outskirts of Mbale, Uganda. Our mission … to help bring a future and a hope to the 7000+ orphans and at-risk children who live within a half-mile radius of the church!

What better way to celebrate transforming the futures and hopes of orphans than to rejoice in what God is unfolding on that 8 1/2 acre plot of land just outside of Mbale, Uganda known fondly to those in the Mission Mbale family as the “Farmland”!

Many of you have been following this amazing story that began in mid-September with the announcement by the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation of a $10,000.00 matching grant. The purpose of this grant would be to help Mission Mbale place the security fencing around the farmland so that we could begin the process of moving the 26 children living in the tent into the permanent houses that are located there.

WELL, the beautiful people who stand with us in this work responded in a HUGE way and when the totals were in on October 11, over $11,000.00 had been donated bringing to $21,491.00 the total amount raised in just over 3 weeks.

But God wasn't finished because even as we were rejoicing over that amazing miracle God showed up once again as we received a call from a couple who shared that God had laid it on their hearts to "match" doTERRA's gift and another $10,000.00 was added to the total. Have I mentioned to y'all recently that God is good ALL the time? WOW!!!!!

As a result of that additional blessing we were able to fast-forward many, many months and grasp hold of a dream to begin the construction of Ebenezer Christian School. As we researched our options we discovered that for $55,000.00 we could completely finish 3 classrooms and put in the foundation for several more to be built at a later date. After much prayer we stepped out in faith with the funds that we had available and broke ground. The pictures that you see below are where we are at after two weeks of construction and the biggest of all praises is that we are now over half-way to fully funding the project. YES, you read that correctly as God has already provided over $30,000.00 towards the construction. We are convinced without a shadow of doubt that the remaining funds will be available for the construction to be completed in time for Grades 1-3 to begin when school begins after the long winter break in mid-February!

DoTerra Matching Grant Surpassed!

YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT OUT-GIVE GOD!!! HALLELUIA!!!

We have witnessed our Father pour out blessings upon blessings upon blessings on this ministry for over four years now and each time He seems to take us to yet a higher level!!!

Almost a month ago I sent out an announcement that we had been selected by "doTERRA Essential Oils" to participate in a $10,000.00 matching grant challenge through their Healing Hands Foundation ... all we had to do was raise $10,000.00 and they would match us dollar for dollar.

The bottom line is that over fifty different people donated a total of $11,491.00 to the Challenge. We received the full $10,000.00 match which will more than cover the costs associated with placing security fencing around the 8 acres of farmland which also is the site for the permanent housing for the children living in the tents! We can never thank you enough for your prayers and contributions that have made this life-changing opportunity possible. They will begin the construction on the fencing within the next few days and we will be sharing many photos as the process moves forward!

BUT, that is only part of the story because shortly after finding out that we had met the challenge Mary Faye received a phone call from someone with some more truly unbelievable news. As she listened, the person told her that God had spoken to her and her husband as they prayed together and layed it on their hearts to match doTERRA's gift. Because of their obedience another $10,000.00 has been added to the total bringing the receipts from the Challenge to $31,491.00!

As a result, we are now in the position to begin planning the opening of Phase One of Ebenezer Christian School which will also be located on the farmland. We have been given a quote of $55,000 to complete Phase One of the school which will consist of the completion of 3 classrooms and the foundation and roof structure for several additional classrooms. As a result of receiving the additional $10,000.00 gift, the funding necessary to complete the three classrooms is now only $45,000.00.

Please pray with us for God to bring forth individuals, churches, schools, corporate sponsors, and others to partner with us in raising these funds. It is our desire to have the funding in place by December 1 so that we can hopefully have construction completed by the beginning of the next school term which begins in early February.

Update - $10,000 matching - ends Oct 11th

We just wanted to give a quick update and shout out a HUGE PRAISE TO THE LORD AND A SPECIAL "THANK YOU" to each of you who have helped us push over the halfway mark of reaching the full $10,000 matching grant from the doTERRA Essential Oils Healing Hands Foundation.  This grant will allow us to fully fence in the property upon which the homes for the 26 children who are currently living in the 40'x40' tent are located.  The security fencing will enclose the approximately 8 acres of land which will eventually be home to Ebenezer Christian Boarding and Day School and provide protection around the land which will be used to raise goats and chickens as well as to protect the crops which will help feed the children in the days and years to come.

Please prayerfully consider helping us push over the mark of $10,000 so that we will receive the FULL matching grant that is being offered by the doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation.  The deadline for contributing will be midnight on October 11, 2017.  Thank you again for your prayers and support as we continue to watch God unfold His amazing plans for the people of Mbale!!! THE CHALLENGE

Mission Mbale has been given a very special opportunity to partner with The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation to raise up to $20,000.00 by midnight on October 11, 2017!  The purpose of this Challenge will be to raise funds to install security fencing and prepare the property surrounding the two permanent homes for the 26 orphans and at-risk children currently living in the tent. This land will also be the future site of Ebenezer Christian School, a boarding and day school for the children living in the Namatala Slum.

Before We Go...

Good Morning from Mbale!  Today is our last day of ministry with the people of Ebenezer and our last day to spend with the children.  I can’t wait to share with you about the special services we have planned for today—dedicating the beautiful new prayer shelter and distributing the goats that were purchased with funds raised by FBC Newnan’s children at VBS.  I hope that you will remember our team and pray that our last moments with the children will be tender and sweet.  Pray that God would give our people strength to reserve our emotions until we return to the hotel, as we don’t want to upset the children. 

It is hard to fully understand if you’ve never come to Uganda.  It’s hard to know the pain and struggle—and the incredible joy—unless you’ve experienced it with all your senses.  And there is no way to comprehend how, even in such a short time, we have come to love one another so dearly—only to say that it is by the Lord’s design.

But I also know that many of you have been following Mission Mbale and our ministry teams on this journey for some time.  You have heard our stories of destruction and despair, of hope and restoration.  Your hearts have been opened to love people you may never meet this side of heaven, and out of obedience to the Lord and because of the love of Christ, you have given your time, your resources, and your prayers.  To just say thank you feels hopelessly inadequate. 

Our prayer today for the people of this place is the same as our prayer for you.  We hope that you will lift this blessing up to the Lord as well.  For the beautiful people of Mbale, Uganda…
