MISSION MBALE SUMMER 2018 ... JULY 18-29, 2018 ... TRIP ITINERARY AND PRAYER GUIDE!!!

The time is drawing near and the excitement is building for the 19 of us who will be leaving for Mbale on July 18th.  God has surely outdone Himself in the creation of this very special team and we are all ready to be on the ground in Uganda to begin the very special mission that He has provided for us to be a part of!  We are including a detailed  Itinerary of what will be happening on a day-by-day, hour-by-hour basis.  We ask that you pray for us as the Lord leads for HIS perfect will to be done in each of the various ministry opportunities which are before us as we once again journey into uncharted waters!! This year our team will be leading Evangelistic Sports Camps, leading in-home Bible studies in between 60 and 80 homes in the slum, leading a Pastor's Conference for over forty pastors, and doing an in-depth Bible study for around 80 women.  We will also be helping feed, encourage, and build deeper relationships with the precious children that have no choice but to call the Namatala Slum there home.

Thanks to each of you who have prayed, encouraged, donated items and funding, helped pack, and just generally stood with us as God has prepared the hearts of each of the nineteen team members who have been called to be a part of this special mission.  To know that God has surrounded us with His finest prayer warriors is such an exciting and comforting blessing and we cannot wait to be in Mbale carrying His love to the precious people of the Namatala Slum!

We will be posting regular updates on the website at missionmbale.org as well as on the ministry Facebook page at Mission Mbale, Inc.  We would love to have you join us for the journey and hope to be able to interact with some of you while we are on the ground in Mbale!

ALL FOR HIS GLORY!

859 CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS IN A TENT ARE OVER!!!

It was February 28, 2016 when 20 children from the Namatala Slum in Mbale, Uganda were welcomed into a 40' x 40' canvas tent on the property of Ebenezer Baptist Church after spending most of their lives sleeping on the streets or in make-shift homes.  These children had never had their own bed, most had never had a pillow under their head, and many had never really ever had a place to call "home", even if it was a tent with bunk beds and poor ventilation.

For those of us who had dreamed of this day though ... it was a HUGE victory and we praised God for HIS provisions to be able to provide this new home for at least a few of the precious children of that slum village that we had come to love!  Although we knew that these living arrangements were temporary, we didn't have any way of knowing just how long "temporary" was going to be but we were trusting that God would make a way in HIS perfect timing for a permanent home for these precious children and others who were to over time be added to the "tent" family.

We will have another update in the next few days when we get back into civilization and have better internet service but there was NO WAY that I was going to let this day pass without at least sending out a BIG, BIG PRAISE THE LORD for what has transpired today!!! Today, twenty-nine children, most of whom have spent the last 859 days sleeping in a musty, sometimes hot, sometimes cold tent that has on more than one occasion been partially collapsed by storms while they were inside made the journey of a lifetime!  Today they moved to their new homes at the farmland in Namabasa village, about 15 minutes out of town and as I write they are sleeping in a real house, with real conveniences like running water and lights, and never again have to fear that a storm will once again collapse a tent upon them!!! TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!!!

Thanks to each and every one who has prayed, contributed in any way, encouraged us in those times of uncertainty of "What next?"  A new day is about to dawn for these precious children as they awaken knowing that once again their God has supplied their needs and provided a way when their seemed to be now way!!!  We've only just begun but today has been HUGE as God has once again proven that HE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!!!

I'm going to try to attach a video of the children singing and praising God in their new homes ... there are both boys and girls dorms at the farmland... no longer just a plywood wall separating the two sides of a tent!  If the video doesn't attach I'll post it tomorrow when we arrive back home!!  And to all a good night!!! HALLELUJAH!!!  WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!!!

ALL FOR HIS GLORY!!!

It's "Letter-Writing" Time Again!

WOW!  It doesn't seem real that in 45 days we will once again be on a plane headed to our second home...Mbale, Uganda!!  Mary Faye and I are beyond ready to once again experience the joyous laughter, the hugs, the squeals of the children as they play, and yes, even the dust and the distinguishable smell that is synonymous with being in that slum village!  It is a combination of all of these things that make this place so very special to us and to all who have walked with us among the people there over the past 4 1/2 years!  And here we go again, a group of 19 very special individuals whom God Himself has called together for such a time as this, so your prayers are appreciated as we prepare for Mission Mbale 2018 on July 18-29!!!

For those of you who have followed us over the past several years you know that these trips hold so much anticipation for the children in the village as it means that many of them will once again be receiving letters, pictures, cards, etc from their sponsors back in America.  When we started the Child Sponsorship Program in November 2015 it was our intention to begin to build life-long relationships between the children of the Namatala Slum in Mbale, Uganda and those special people back in America who answered the call to become their "American Family".  One of the fundamental ways in which we have tried to do this is by encouraging the sponsors to write letters to their children prior to each trip, letters that we personally deliver to each child and as is so often the case, hold their child in our laps as they read their letter!  This has become such a special time for each of the team members as we are blessed to see the joy on the children's faces as they read the letter and listen to their excitement in learning about their "new" family.

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT SENDING LETTERS TO YOUR CHILD:

If you are a current child sponsor and would like to send your child a letter with updated pictures and even a small gift (it MUST all fit inside a 4.5" x 9.5" envelope) then start writing and WE MUST have them in our possession by July 6 as we will finalize packing on July 9th.  Also, if you are not currently a Child Sponsor and would like to have a part in transforming the hopes and futures of one of our children then visit missionmbale.org for all the details on how you too can become a sponsor.  There is a Q & A section as well as downloadable forms which should answer most of your questions.  However, if you wish to talk to us you may call us at 770-313-5394 or email us at missionmbale@gmail.com.  If you wish to do this, we will work with you to get your child assigned and you will be able to send a letter introducing yourself to your child and we will take pictures of their excited faces and bring them back to you when we return home!!!

Thank you again for ALL you do and remember, your prayers are the GREATEST blessing you could ever give to us!!!  Enjoy the short video of the kids praising God for the new bus!  As the old hymn says..."Oh what a foretaste of glory divine..." :-)

ALL FOR HIS GLORY!!!
